1) State Meet for Summer
-How do we get all of the events in for the younger kids?
-Event Order
The Committee talked extensively on the format of the 2002 summer state meet. The unanimous preference was to split the meet into two separate meets, on different weekends and scored separately at the Schroeder YMCA. In general, there would be a 14 & Under meet on August 2-4, and a senior meet on August 12-14. Ideally, both would include all possible events and be conducted as prelim/final meets. Potential problems include availability of facility, securing meet hosts, and viability of this format change in future seasons given the national, zone c meet calendar and the potential return of a Junior national meet.
If the facility is available, the committee will develop an event order and time standards accordingly. If it is not, then a meet similar to previous years is best solution with the addition of the "new" longer events for younger age groups. These events will undoubtedly stretch the meet to a full four days.
-Finalize event order
The order/format developed by Bob White, Jr. was accepted in concept but amended by the group to reflect the suggestions of Linda Eberle to maintain a gender separation (ie. Females in North End and Males in South End) rather divide than by age. Neil Wright is incorporating the final event order with the input of the committee.
-entry close date
The Age Group/ Senior Committee pushed to have / strongly recommends the entry deadline for the 13 & O meet to move closer to the meet date, preerably mid-week before the WI Sectional meets.
-us open needs to be clarified to follow the 3 state meet rule
Recommends that the "individual event participation in 3 WI Championships" clause be added to the travel fund rule changes to help preserve the fund for its intended users. Dale Nickels is amending.
-2 kids that are 14&O and 2 kids that are 13&U can represent each lsc.
-we need a format to choose if we have more than 2 kids in either age group
Urged the LSC to follow the guidelines outlined for the National Disability Championships to help determine selection of LSC representatives at Zone C meet if more than 2 in either age group interested.
