Wisconsin Swimming is the local arm of USA Swimming which is the National Governing Body for
the sport of swimming. We administer competitive swimming in accordance with the Amateur Sports
Act. We provide programs and services for our members and member clubs. We value these members of
the swimming community, and the staff and volunteers who serve them. We are committed to excellence
and the improvement of our sport, and strive to serve the sport through its core objectives: Build
the base, Promote the sport, Achieve competitive success.

Website Changes Coming |

-- In the next few days, we will be cutting the Wisconsin LSC website over to a new
system hosted by TeamUnify. The new system will provide better access to LSC information
and make administration easier. Nearly everything on the current website has been converted,
including the meet schedule, but there may be some bumps along the way. It may take a while
to learn where to find things. Please bear with us as we complete the cutover.

2011-2012 Scholastic All American Applications |

-- Each year, USA Swimming recognizes its members who excel both in the classroom and in the
pool. The Scholastic All-America Team is made up of high school student-athletes who have a grade
point average of 3.5 or higher and who have achieved the required time standard in a single event.
To be eligible for this recognition, swimmers must have completed 10th, 11th or 12th grade and must
be a USA Swimming member athlete. Eligible times must be swum between July 1, 2011 and June 30,
2012. The application must be completed by August 15.
The application for the 2011-2012 year will be available online on June 1, 2012. The only
method for application will be the online application on the USA Swimming website. Applicants will
be required to have a USA Swimming account. Qualifying times for the applicant will be validated
through the Times on the USA Swimming website. The applicant will be required to upload a copy of
his or her high school transcript for the current academic year. All grades for both semesters
(2011-2012) must be on the transcript.
Swimmers who have a 3.5 GPA and are applying as a Disability swimmer or Open Water swimmer will be
required to upload results from the meet in which they participated. The eligible meets for
Disability swimmers are the following: World Deaf Championships, August 6-13, Coimbra, Portugal; Global
Games, September 24-October 4, 2011, Liguria, Italy; US Paralympic Trials, June 14-16, 2012, Bismarck,
North Dakota. The eligible meet for Open Water is the 2012 Open Water National Championships,
April 27-29, 2012, Fort Myers, Florida.

-- Here is the 2011-12 Short Course Swimmer and Coach of the Year Ballot. Please return all ballots

by Monday June 4. All coaches who vote must have their credentials up to
date when they turn in their ballot.
At the January 2012 House of Delegates it was decided that each team gets one vote for Swimmer/Coach of the
Year. Please discuss with your staff who will be submitting your team's ballot.

Diversity Select Camp |

-- The 2012 Central Zone Diversity Select Camp Athletes and Coach for Wisconsin will be Emma Blackdeer
from Deforest Aquatic Club, Manny Hernandez from the Fox Valley Wave and Coach Brett Wilson from Deforest Aquatic Club.
Athletes must have qualfified in at least one individual event in the local LSC Championship meet and be
between 13-16 years of age at the time of the camp. The three day camp will include pool training,
motivational and education sessions, networking and strategic planning sessions for members of each LSC and
team buildining activites.

-- The Officials Committee has scheduled six New Officials Training Clinics as follows:
Three Stroke and Turn Judge:
April 28, Saturday, Wausau; May 5, Saturday, Brown Deer; May 8, Tuesday,
Madison; and three Starter/Referee:
April 17, Tuesday, Madison; April 21, Saturday, Oshkosh; April 21,
Saturday, Brown Deer. The two Clinic offered at the Brown Deer location offer certification as USA
Swimming Stroke and Turn Judge and as "Y" Level I and II. For details and more Officials News, see the

Outstanding Service Award |

-- Nomination forms for the 2012 Outstanding Service Award are now available. Each year Local Swimming
Committees have the opportunity to select a recipient for the Outstanding Service Award. This
award, sponsored by ConocoPhillips, is presented to a volunteer in each LSC in recognition of
service to swimming. Anyone in the LSC can submit a nomination. Nominations must be
in writing and returned to Carol Graham by June 1st.

Safety Poster Contest |

-- The Safety Education Committee is pleased to announce a Safety Poster Contest. The objective
is to build awareness for safety in the competitive swimming environment. We are asking athletes to come
up with their original poster designs and create a poster about safety in the pool (competition or training);
open water (competition or training) or dryland training. Details about the contest are in the PDF,
below:
The poster submission deadline is May 15, 2012.
